In the opening lesson of our series “Exploring Our Strange Bible,” Dr. Kevin Burr walks us through the Christian way of reading Scripture: it is a unified story leading to Jesus. The Old Testament in Hebrew ends with 2 Chronicles, and the English Old Testament ends with Malachi. Both endings leave the reader feeling something is unfinished, incomplete, but there is a distinct sense of hope that God will act again decisively in the future. Christians affirm God’s final decisive action is in Jesus–and that is what the Bible points us to.
