Steve Brashear has served as an elder at Windsor Park and Kings Crossing, beginning in 2002. He has been married to his Wife Sharon for 44 years. They have 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren. They moved from Victoria, TX where they had lived for 20 years to the Corpus area in 1997. Steve has been involved in teaching, Camp Bandina, and the prison ministry. Steve retired in 2016 and Sharon is a junior high teacher at Gregory Portland ISD. Hobbies include woodworking and golf (and grandkids).
Ron Cardwell has served as an elder, first at Windsor Park and now at Kings Crossing since 1997. He and his wife Linda moved here in 1975 and have been with the congregation since. Ron recently retired from his second career in real estate, having spent 30+ years before that in radio/tv, broadcast sales and marketing. He leads our singing programs and teaches adult bible classes. Ron enjoys traveling, playing guitar, golfing and spending time with family. Linda is a behavioral specialist at the Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center. Ron and Linda have a daughter Amy and son-in-law Jeff whom they love tremendously.
Robert Illgen has been married to Daneille for over 40 years, with two children and one grandchild. He served as an elder at Southeast Church of Christ in Houston for 7 years before being transferred to Corpus Christi, where his family has worshipped since 2006. He has served as an Elder here since 2008. Hobbies include fishing and golf.
Jack North and his wife Judy placed membership at Kings Crossing Church of Christ in 1981. He began serving as an elder in 1996. They are both retired, Judy after 25 years as a kindergarten teacher and Jack from the natural gas pipeline industry. They have two grown children, a daughter Joeli, a son Brandon and four grandchildren.
Rick Legvold began serving the congregation as one of our elders in 2016. Rick and Pam (his wife) came to Kings Crossing in 2010. They have one daughter and 3 grandsons. They have worked with churches in Minnesota, Florida, The Netherlands and Texas.
Ministers & Staff
Mark has been with Kings Crossing since 2014, having worked with churches in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Florida before arriving in the Coastal Bend. Mark met his wife Carolina at Harding University, where each of them earned both bachelors and masters degrees. Mark holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Lipscomb University with concentrations in missional leadership and spiritual formation. He is especially passionate about short-term missions in Central America. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Mark is also a guitar enthusiast.
Secretary / Digital Communication
Patricia Alcidas has been at Kings Crossing since 2009. She came on staff in 2018 to work as one of our secretaries, focused specifically on our digital forms of communication. She is currently a student at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, studying finance. She has associates degrees in Business Administration and in Liberal Arts. Her favorite animal is a unicorn, but for those of you who don't think they exist, she'll say it's a cat. You can usually find her enjoying nature, reading, journaling, going on a road trip, or shopping.
Peyton has been with us since February of 2017, having worked for a college ministry for the previous 4 years at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Peyton and his wife, Rebekah, met at the TAMUCC, where both pursued liberal arts degrees in English and Visual Arts, respectively. Peyton holds an M.A. in British Literature, and credits his time studying literature as a major influence in his drive for theology. He is passionate about all things outdoors, including hunting, camping, and hiking.
Director, Rainbow Express
Krystal has been with Kings Crossing since 2015, having worked in early childhood education for the past five years, an area of great passion for her. Her philosophy is that if children are given the right tools at an early age they have great potential to achieve. This is the mentality that guides Rainbow Express. Krystal has been married to her husband Adrian since 2003. Together they are proud parents of two girls. As a family they have enjoyed traveling around with the Navy. Krystal is thankful for the opportunity to serve with the amazing staff at Rainbow Express and she really loves being part of Kings Crossing.
Prison Ministry Director
Buck Griffith directs our prison ministry. Buck came to Kings Crossing in 1977, having worked with churches in Ropesville, New Home and Grand Prairie. Buck and Janet, natives of Corpus Christi, were in first grade together at David Hirsch....God had a plan. They attended ACU where Buck played football and majored in Bible. After preaching here in Corpus Christi for 25 years, Buck now leads the prison ministry. They are parents of Tishanne Carroll and Yancy Griffith and granddaughter, Taryn Brooks.
Secretary / Bookkeeper
Married to a former Army Major, a Field Artillery Officer named John for nearly forty years, Kathy has lived in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Massachusetts, and New York before returning to Texas. She’s studied in seven different universities, finishing at the State University of New York at Oswego with her Bachelors of Science degree in Education. This mother of two and grandmother of three has worked as a teacher, in the fast food industry, as a dental technician, and with a plastic surgeon. She gained experience in putting out fires while working in the forestry department, where Bigfoot undoubtedly tried to get pictures of her. All of this prepared her for the ultimate role of being our church Secretary and Bookkeeper. She’s the most interesting Secretary in the world. She’s Kathy Jacobs, and you can catch her Monday-Friday in our church office.
Les Maloney is our education minister. Les has been with Kings Crossing since 2012, having completed 22 years as a US Army Chaplain (active duty and reserves). Les has served as a preaching minister for churches in Texas, Arizona, Iowa, and Oklahoma. Les married his college sweetheart, Margaret, and they have three grown children and one grandchild. Les has an earned Ph.D. in Religion from Baylor University and has taught college-level biblical survey courses in New Mexico and Texas, including most recently an online bachelor’s course for Austin Graduate School of Theology. Margaret has a master’s degree in educational administration and teaches eighth-grade algebra.
