It is our goal to be a church who is focused on Jesus. He is our example. He is our guide. He is our savior. We can become distracted on our path, but Jesus is the true way. The more we learn to think like Jesus, the more we become the church he imagined.

We share so much in common. We have a God who loves us sacrificially, despite knowing everything about us. We have an ability with God’s help to do great things that God has prepared for us. We have a common purpose from God and a simple common command: “Love one another as I have loved you.”

Those who put Jesus to death thought they were making a mockery of a fool. But when Jesus rose from the tomb, he revealed that the joke was on them. The world did its best to do its worst, but the foolishness of God was revealed to be wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God, stronger than man’s strength. As people of the resurrection, we can live from a place of joy in knowing our God is stronger than anything we’ll ever face.

The eventual direction of all history is that in Christ, God will make all things new (Revelation 21:5). The good news is that God isn’t waiting around until then to get started. When a person comes to God in honest sincerity, and commits to allowing God to work through them, God will show up and bless us in surprising ways, making paths to places we couldn’t have gotten otherwise.

Our world is caught up in deep self-deception. Whether it’s perpetuated by fear or distraction, Isaiah offers us a brave new vision of a better world, the way God imagines it. In God’s peaceful city, people can practice a level of realism that pulls from the ultimate Reality. With all things rooted in God, we can lay down the masks and become real.
